Eastern Illinois women's tennis returns to action with a midweek match against Saint Louis on Wednesday at the St. Clair Racquet Club in O'Fallon, Ill.   EIU is coming off a 2-1 performance this past weekend which included a pair of 7-0 wins on Saturday at the Danville Tennis Center.

Christine Gouws was 3-0 in singles play for the weekend for the Panthers winning all three of her matches at No. 1 singles.  She picked up one of EIU's two wins on Sunday at Milwaukee with a three-set victory.

Lauren Ellis had the other win for EIU on Sunday at Milwaukee as she also went 3-0 for the weekend improving to 5-2 for the year playing at the No. 6 singles position.

In doubles play EIU had good performances at No. 2 doubles by Madeline Monroy and Brittany Steven.  The pair posted a 3-0 record winning the lone doubles point for EIU on Sunday after helping to clinch the doubles point in wins over Olivet Nazarene and St. Francis (Ill.).

EIU is now 3-4 on the season and will travel to Bradley this weekend after the Wednesday match at Saint Louis.

The Billikens are 5-1 on the year and hold a 9-5 all-time series lead between the two schools.  SLU won 6-1 last year.  EIU's last win was a 5-2 decision in 2019 as the two schools did not meet in 2020 or 2021 due to schedules impacted by COVID.
