Mackenzie Aldridge and Adam Swanson continued their strong starts to the 2023 Eastern Illinois season as both finished in the top six at the Illinois State Redbird Invite.
 
Swanson placed fourth overall in the men's race but third among collegiate scored runners posting an 8K time of 24:42.5.  As a team EIU finished sixth in the meet.
 
Aldridge was sixth in the women's field over the 6K distance finishing with a time of 22:05.2.   As a team EIU finished fourth in the meet.
 
Brenda Torres placed 15h for the EIU women as the Panthers had all five scored runners place in the top 30.  Kylie Haacke was 24th followed by Sarah Carr in 27th and Alex Gomez in 30th.
 
Torres had a time of 22:29.7.  Haacke crossed in 22:52.7.  Carr and Gomez were just over the 23-minute mark at 23:04.1 and 23:09.1 respectively.
 
Rylea Borgic (34th / 23:16.6) and Kylie Decker (45th / 23:31.7) closed out the Panther women top seven runners. 
 
On the men's side Michael Atkins crossed in 25th with a time of 25:25.4 with Noah Schalliol in 34th at 25:44.2.   Joe Stoddard was the fourth Panther to cross in 41st with a time of 25:52.0
 
Sam Nowak was the final scored EIU men's runner leading a tight pack of EIU finishers with Sam Cruz in 53rd and Ethan Black in 55th.  Nowak's time was 26:11.0 with Cruz finishing at 26:18.1 and Black at 26:23.5.
