Track & Field Adds Three As Part Of Throws Group

Panthers add two high school athletes and NCAA All-American

Eastern Illinois director of track & field James Gildon continues to build the Panthers rosters for next season with the announcement of three athletes specializing in throws joining the EIU ranks next year.
 
Set to compete next season for the Panthers are Kaden Salisbury, Emily Sykes and Isabella Fabrizio.
 
Salisbury (Geneseo, Ill.) competed in throws at Geneseo High School where he was a five-time IHSA Class 2A State Championship qualifier during his career.  Salisbury qualified for the IHSA State meet in both the discus and shot put during his junior and senior years after qualifying in the discus as a sophomore.  He twice landed a podium finish at the state championship placing seventh in the discus as a senior and eighth in the discus as a sophomore.  His state finals throw his senior year was 157'8" while his state finals toss as a sophomroe was 153'5".  His top throw of 166' in the discus came at the Western Big 6 Conference Championship.  His top shot put mark was 56'1" at the Geneseo Tri Meet.
 
Sykes (Granite City, Ill.) competed in throws at Granite City High School where she was a five-time IHSA Class 3A State Championship qualifier during her career.  Sykes qualifed for the IHSA State met in both the discus and shot put during her junior and senior years after qualifying in the shot put as a sophomore.  She was a dual medalist as a senior placing second in the state in the shot put with a finals throw of 42'4.25" and third in the state in the discus with a finals throw of 130'11".  As a juniro Sykes placed sixth in the state in the discus with a finals throw of 131'1".  She was seventh in the state in the shot put during her sophomore year with a finals throw of 40'6.25".
 
Fabrizio (Highland Mills, NY) is a tranfer from SUNY Oneonta where she earned second team Division III All-American honors in both the indoor and outdoor shot put this past season.  Fabrizio is a multi-time All-SUNYAC performer in the indoor and outdoor shot put.  At the 2024 NCAA Outdoor National Championships she placed 13th in the nation in the shot put with a finals throw of 45'1.75".  She placed 16th in the nation in the shot put at the Indoor National Championships with a throw of 43'2.25".  Fabrizio has posted a collegiate best hammer throw of 162'5", discus throw of 108'4" and weight throw of 52'1.75".  In addition she qualified for the NCAA Championships as a junior in both the indoor and outdoor shot put.  Fabrizio prepped at Cornwall High School qualifying in for the New York State Track Championships three times in her prep career in the shot put, twice at the outdoor championship and once at the indoor state meet.
