Eastern Illinois cross country will open its 2024 season on Friday as the Panthers host the EIU Walt Crawford Open.

The meet will start at 3:45 pm with the women's 5K on the Tom Woodall Panther Trail. The men's 8K will follow at 4:30 p.m.

Six teams are currently scheduled to compete with host Eastern Illinois, Chicago State, Evansville, Western Illinois, Kaskaskia College and Vincennes University.

EIU is coming off back-to-back sweeps of both the men's and women's Ohio Valley Conference Championships.

On the men's side EIU returns All-OVC runners
Michael Atkins and
Richie Jacobo.

The women have three returning All-OVC runners in
Mackenzie Aldridge,
Brenda Torres and
Kylie Haacke.
