OVC ITA Weekend Results
Eastern Illinois women's tennis opened its fall season playing Saturday and Sunday at the OVC ITA Masters hosted by Southern Indiana. Players from six different OVC schools competed in the weekend event which was shortened Sunday due to weather in the area.
Prior to the weather impacting play
Charleigh Fay won her first two singles matches playing in Flight 3. Fay beat Paige Duncan of SIUE in the opening round 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 10-7. She then knocked off Paola Garcia of Lindenwood, 6-2, 6-4. Fay fell in the Flight 3 Championship match dropping a two set match, 6-3, 6-3, to Chole Routier of Western Illinois.
Luisa Renovalas-Salazar picked up an opening round win in Flight 4 beating Yana Gaskell of Lindenwood 6-2, 6-2. She dropped her second round match and then fell to Kristina Kozakova of Southeast Missouri in the third place match losing 6-4, 6-0.
Ornellia Lomenzo played in Flight 1 for the Panthers losing her opening round match before rebounding to win a three-set match on Sunday over Mia Mayerova of Southeast Missouri. Lomenzo won 7-6, 2-6, 10-8.
In doubles play Lomenzo teamed with
Mila Larrieu in Flight 2 and won their opening round match 7-5 over the doubles team from Southern Indiana. They would lose in the second round, 6-2 to Southeast Missouri.
Michelle Kostadinova and
Emma Pilipovic-Kljajic went 1-1 in doubles play in Fight 3 losing their opening match to Western Illinois before beating Southern Indiana, 7-5.
