The Eastern Illinois swim team falls short against Evansville in a tightly contested dual meet. The men's side lost 136-126, with the final freestyle relay deciding the results, while the women's team lost 143-114.
Men's Swimming:
The men's 400 Yard Medley Relay kicked the afternoon off, earning gold with a final time of 3.26.55. The relay team was led by Alexander Sadowski with his teammates Nolan Wallace, Luke Helm, and Simonas Rimskis. Shortly after, Eddie Myers left his mark on the meet, finishing in first place in the Men's 1000 Yard Freestyle with a final time of 9:57.30, winning by a margin of 3 seconds. Nolan Wallace continues his dominant season, earning gold in the Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke with a finals time of 57.39 seconds, ranking 8th all-time in program history. Wallace also won the Men's 200 Yard Breaststroke with a finals time of 2:11.49, winning by 6 seconds. Carson Hughes joined the winning party after winning a 50 Yard Freestyle thriller by a margin of 0.01 seconds. Hughes added victory to his resume later in the meet at the Men's 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 52.31.
Women's Swimming:
Remingtyn Bokos started the Panthers on the winning side, earning gold in the Women's 1000 Yard Freestyle with a finals time of 11:11.17, winning by a margin of 7 seconds. Bokos also won the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle with a gold medal time of 5:27.70. Sophia Buswell wasted no time making a difference in the meet, winning the Women's 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:14.90. Buswell dominated the race, winning the event by 12 total seconds. Jenna Patridge found herself on the top of the podium in the Women's 200 Yard Backstroke thriller. Patridge won by 0.76 seconds with a time of 2:14.01. Genevieve Biberdorf sped past the Purple Aces in the Women's 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:28.24. Biberdorf took second place in the Women's 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:18.01. Anna Mueller also took second place in the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle with a completed time of 5:32.52.
Up Next: The Panthers will remain home for two competitions next weekend. EIU will face UIC on Friday, January 23rd, then welcome Southern Indiana on Saturday, January 24th.
