Eastern Illinois and Morehead State were tied at the end of the third quarter and then tied with 34 seconds remaining in regulation as the Eagles hit a key shot while the Panthers last shot rimmed out before the Eagles iced the game at the foul line. The loss dropped EIU to 4-24 on the season, 3-14 in the OVC. The Panthers play their final home game on Saturday afternoon hosting Southern Indiana. The Screaming Eagles are currently tied for third in the OVC standings as teams jockey for seeding in the upcoming OVC Tournament in Evansville. Following Saturday's home game, EIU will close out the regular season with road games at Lindenwood on Thursday night and at SIUE on Saturday afternoon.
SENIOR DAY PLAYERS
Eastern Illinois will honor four members of its 2026 senior class prior to the game on Saturday against Southern Indiana. This year's senior class includes graduate student
Kennedy Davis, senior
Tiny Lewis, redshirt junior
Ella Lune and redshirt junior
Lyric Johnson. The Panthers have won their last two Senior Day games at Groniger Arena beating Southeast Missouri last season (W, 85-52) and SIUE (W, 80-66) the previous year.
STOLLER BACK TO 20
Eastern Illinois leading scorer throughout the season, junior guard
Ava Stoller had been held in check her last two games after missing the Panthers two road games to Tennessee during the opening weekend of February. Stoller returned to the 20-point plateau on Thursday evening with her fifth 20 point game this season. Stoller was able to get to the free throw line eight times, converting all eight as she is shooting 89.1 percent for the season. Stoller has 15 double figure scoring games this season with a high of 25 at Purdue in November.
LUNE LIGHTS UP
Ella Lune will be one of four players honored on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, but on Thursday night the redshrit junior had her best scoring performance of the season. Lune was 7-of-12 from the floor including 3-of-5 from 3-point range as she finished with a season high 19 points. It was her fourth double figure scoring game this season and the fifth of her Panther career. Her previous season high of 16 points came in the non-conference season at both Illinois State and Butler. She had 14 points two weeks ago at Tennessee Tech.
