DANVILLE/CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Eastern Illinois men's and women's tennis squads both lost their respective matches to Northern Illinois and Southern Illinois by identical 6-1 scores on Friday.

The defeats move the Panther men and women to 1-4 and 2-2 on the early season, as the Panther women have now dropped consecutive 6-1 matches after starting the year at 2-0.

Meanwhile, the Eastern men will look to snap a three-match losing streak of their own this coming Sunday (Feb. 20) when they travel to Valparaiso for a 2 pm contest.

Lone winners for the two squads were freshman Charlie Dryden at No. 5 singles for the guys, while junior Annie Egan nabbed a win by default at No. 6 singles for the ladies.

In men's doubles, Dryden teamed with Michael Sperry to earn EIU's lone duo win, taking a close 9-7 victory.

Following this weekend of play, the Eastern women will return to the court at Illinois State on Feb. 26, while the men have two matches scheduled on Feb. 27, first at Marquette and then versus UW-Green Bay.
