CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Eastern Illinois men's tennis hit past visiting Chicago State, 6-1, on Thursday (March 29) as the Panthers improve to 2-8 overall on the season.
Panthers opened play by earning the all-important doubles point as the duos of Matyas Hilgert/Michael Sperry and Warren Race/Kevin Bauman earned 8-0 and 8-5 victories at No. 1 and No. 2 duos, respectively. EIU also earned the No. 3 win by default.
Eastern then proceeded to take four singles via straight sets wins with the addition of a default victory as well.
The Eastern men return to action this weekend, joining the women's unit for consecutive road Ohio Valley Conference matches at Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State on Saturday (March 31) and Sunday (April 1), respectively. First serves are set for 10 a.m. both days.
