DANVILLE, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis upped their spring season record to 3-1 overall following a 5-2 win over Dayton on Sunday afternoon, with the match played inside the nearby Danville Tennis Center.

EIU picked up the crucial team doubles point as the No. 2 duo of junior Kyle Bauman and newcomer Robert Skolik, as well as the No. 3 freshmen tandem of Ryan Henderson and Rui Silva, each earned respective 9-7 and 8-5 victories.

"The thing that our last three matches have in common is that we have played pretty sound doubles," said EIU head coach John Blackburn. "Plus we've had different guys step up in singles from match to match."

The Panthers then secured four additional wins in singles, as senior Warren Race, Skolik, Henderson, and sophomore David Constantinescu all dispatched their respective Dayton opponent in straight sets at the No. 2, No. 4, No. 5, and No.6 spots in the lineup.

"It's nice that all six singles spots are capable of producing over the course of our last few matches," added Blackburn.  "Today Warren (Race) and Ryan (Henderson) played very complete matches for us and I liked the way Robert (Skolik) and David (Constantinescu) finished as well.

"We know we still have a lot of work to do between now and our next match early next month, so we'll make it our goal to use that time well and continue to keep improving."

The EIU men will be off until Fri., March 1, when they are set to face Southern Illinois in a 3 p.m. road contest.
