Two Weekend Matches on Tap for EIU Women

At 2-2 overall, Panthers look to rebound from last week's loss at SIU

CHARLESTON, Ill. -- The Eastern Illinois women's tennis squad will hit the road for a pair of road matches this weekend, as the Panthers to travel to Indianapolis on Saturday (Feb.23) and Bradley on Sunday (Feb. 24), respectively. 

First serves are scheduled for noon at Indy's own UINDY Tennis Center, while the Bradley contest will begin at 2 p.m. inside the River City North tennis courts in Peoria.

EIU will look to bounce back from last weekend's 7-0 loss at instate rival Southern Illinois.  Indy, as an NCAA Division II squad, sits at 0-1 on the year, while prior to hosting a couple of Saturday matches, Bradley currently owns a 3-3 mark.

Junior Janelle Prisner continues to pace Panthers with a nice 3-1 mark at the top of the women's lineup.  She also sports a 2-2 duo record when teamed with senior Merritt Whitley at No. 1 doubles.

Sophomore Sephora Boulbahaiem sits at 2-1 in No. 2 singles, and 2-2 overall, and when teamed with newcomer Hannah Kimbrough, also owns a 2-2 No. 2 duo record.

Newcomer Ali Foster is also 2-1 in singles play at the No. 4 spot, and when joined by senior Kristen Laird, the twosome are 2-1 at No. 3 duos.

Indianapolis lost their lone match to Northern Illinois by a 9-0 score, while two of Bradley's wins include a 6-1 victory over IUPUI and a tight 4-3 win against Ohio Valley Conference member SIU Edwardsville.

Following the busy weekend slate, the Panther women will return to the courts on Fri., March 8, again traveling to Indianapolis to face I-70 rival IUPUI at 6 p.m.
