HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. -- A Top 25 finish by senior James Jansen helped Eastern Illinois men's golf move up a spot in the final standings of the Austin Peay Intercollegiate on Tuesday (Oct. 21), as the Panthers completed their fall schedule.

Jansen sliced a stroke off his first day of play to finish with a 218 (+2) score to jump up and earn a 24th place mark out of 74 competitors.  He ended the final round of play at the two-day event tied for 30th.

Junior Austin Sproles also improved his play to move from a tie for 30th to a 25th place tie in the final standings thanks to his 219 (+3) combined score.  Fellow senior Oscar Borda followed with a tie for 32nd (220/+4)

Freshman Daniel Hughes and sophomore Marcus Dahlin round out the Panther contingent by tying for 32nd (220/+4) and 46th (223/+7).

Team-wise, Eastern grabbed the eighth place tally, as she combined for a nine-over-par 873 after entering the final round of action in ninth place.  The Panthers out-paced former Ohio Valley Conference foe Samford, while also topping current league rivals Morehead State and Tennessee State, while arch-rival Western Illinois finished last.

The host Govs earned the team title with a 22-under-par 842.  Morehead State's Logan Hogge continued his fine play to earn the individual trophy with a 14-under-par 202.

Panthers will now take a winter break before returning to the links in mid-March of 2015.
