** During the month of July EIUpanthers.com will take a look back at 13 moments, events or performances that helped shape the 2014-15 school year. **

Eastern Illinois senior Caleb Howell proved he was one of the best hitters in the history of the Eastern Illinois baseball program as the outfielder set the Panthers school record for hits during the season.

Howell set the school record in a win over Illinois College on April 15 at Coaches Stadium. Fitting for Howell that the record came against the school located in his hometown of Jacksonville, Ill.

Howell would finish his career with 297 career hits which ranked fourth on the EIU career hits list. He would win his second straight Ohio Valley Conference batting crown hitting .407 to rank ninth in the NCAA. He hit. .420 as a junior making him the fourth player in school history with two or more seasons hitting over .400.

Howell was named first team All-OVC at the end of the year and second team All-Mideast Region.
