CHARLESTON, Ill. - After starting the 2017 season 3-0, the Panther women's tennis team will head to Bradley this Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup before closing out the weekend at IUPUI on Sunday at 10 a.m.
This will be EIU's first match in a week after defeating Dayton and Wright State last weekend in Ohio by matching 5-2 scores. In fact, every match the Panthers have played so far this season has ended in a score of 5-2.
A couple of Panthers head into Saturday's contest riding winning streaks as freshman Stella Cliffe and senior Kelly Iden have yet to drop a match during singles competition and are both 3-0 on the season. Grace Summers and Maria Moshteva have records of 2-1 for singles play as well having won their last two matchups.
Overall, Eastern is 13-5 as a team in singles competition and sit at 4-5 for doubles competition.
Shelby Anderson and Srishti Slaria are the only Panthers who have yet to get their first win as a pair in doubles competition.
Bradley is currently 1-0 on the year after sweeping South Dakota State 7-0 while IUPUI heads into the weekend looking for their first win of the season starting the year 0-4. The Jaguars will have two matches to play before facing EIU with duals against Dayton and the University of Indianapolis Friday and Saturday respectively.
The women's tennis team looks to even the all-time series against Bradley as the Braves hold a slim 16-15 series record over EIU. The Panthers have won the last eight matches in a row against Bradley, but have not met since the 2014 season.
EIU holds a 6-3 series advantage over IUPUI having won the last four duals in a row.
Following this weekend's matches the Panthers will have two duals against in-state rivals Western Illinois (Feb. 11) and Illinois (Feb. 12).
