PEORIA, Ill. - The Eastern Illinois women's tennis team remains perfect on the year after sweeping the Bradley Braves 7-0 Saturday afternoon.
Following the dual the Panthers improve to 4-0 this season while Bradley drops to 1-1.
The Panthers opened the dual winning all three doubles matches as freshman
Emily Pugachevsky made her first doubles appearance of the season. Pugachevsky and partner
Srishti Slaria defeated the Bradley duo of Alexa Brandt and Malini Wijesinghe 6-3 in the No. 2 position.
EIU had a clean sweep in singles play as well as Slaria and
Grace Summers earned matching 6-0, 6-0 victories from the No. 2 and No. 4 spots respectively. Both
Stella Cliffe and
Kelly Iden continued their dominant play winning their fourth singles matches in a row to remain undefeated in singles play.
Pugachevsky won only her second singles match of the year pushing Julie Martin to a three set 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory from the No. 6 position. Teammate
Maria Moshteva also picked up a three set win in the No. 5 position downing Wijesinghe 5-7, 6-3, 10-7.
The Panthers close out their weekend slate Sunday at IUPUI at 10 a.m.
