CHARLESTON, Ill. - This week the Eastern Illinois men's tennis team will have their last non-conference matches before opening conference play as the Panthers are scheduled for two matches in Dayton, Ohio. On Friday (Mar 10) at 5 p.m., the Panthers will face Dayton then Saturday (Mar 11), Wright State at 1:30 p.m.
The EIU men's tennis team looks to get back on track and gain their third win of the season after a rough weekend where they dropped three matches to fall to 2-11 on the year.
Marko Stefan Janjusic and
Jared Woodson performed exceptionally well winning their sixth and third matches respectively in singles competition this season.
Ferdinand Ammer picked up a singles win over the weekend as well against Chicago State to improve to 2-2.
Entering Friday's competition, Dayton holds an 8-7 record on the season previously sweeping Lipscomb 7-0 Friday (Mar 3). EIU holds a 3-2 series record over Dayton and are currently sitting on a two game win streak.
Dating back to the early 90's, Wright State remains winless over EIU. With a 3-0 series record the Panthers look to extend their winning streak to four matches over a 2-10 Wright State.
Following the matches this week, the Panthers will travel to Jacksonville, Ala. Friday (Mar 17) to begin the OVC season against Jacksonville State. On Saturday (Mar 18), EIU will face Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tenn. with the match time still to be announced.
