MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. -- Marcus Dahlin led all Eastern Illinois men's golfers following first day Ohio Valley Conference Championship action on Friday (April 24), at The Shoals down in Alabama.

The sophomore carded a two-over-par 74 in the opening round to tie for 18th place out of 55 competitors, at the Par 72, 7,258-yard Fightin Joe course.

Seniors Oscar Borda and Brady Welsh followed in a tie for 33rd and 50th place behind respective scores of 77 and 81, while sophomore Daniel Hughes (T53rd/83) and senior James Jansen (55th/84) rounded out the Panther contingent.

Team-wise, the Bruins of Belmont currently lead the 11-team field with a 289 score as Jacksonville State's Pablo Torres shot a five-under 67 to pace all golfers individually.

The Panthers fired a combined 315 to currently sit in last place, yet are just nine strokes out of 8th place.

Second round of action continues tomorrow morning, with the final 18 holes to follow on Sunday.
