Eastern Illinois cross country returned to action on Saturday morning competing in the Live In The Lou Classic in Louisville, Ky.
The EIU men were led by
Richie Jacobo as they placed 14th in the field. The EIU women were led by
Brenda Torres as they finished in 16th.
Jacobo posted an 8K time of 24:41.9 to finish in 36th. He was followed in the Top 60 by
Joe Stoddard in 54th at 24:51.8 and
Michael Atkins in 60th at 24:53.9
Torres finished with a 5K time of 17:44.9 placing 37th. She was followed in the Top 50 by
Mackenzie Aldridge in 47th with a time of 17:53.3.
The remaining men's runners for EIU in the top seven were
Cale Smith in 106th (25:25.5),
Sam Nowak in 138th (25:43.4),
Noah Schalliol in 143rd (25:46.8) and
Isai Morales in 152nd (25:53.0).
On the women's side
Kylie Haacke (119th / 18:40.0),
Rylea Borgic (133rd / 18:48.3) and
Sophie Krueger (183rd / 19:18.1) were rounded out the five scored runners.
Julia Monson (226th / 19:51.0) and
Kathryn Cichon (235th / 20:02.0) were the sixth and seventh EIU finishers.
West Virginia won the women's team title in a field of 29 teams. Michigan won the men's team title in a field of 28 teams.
